The
city of Lucilinburhuc was founded in 963 A.C. and from there Luxembourg
literally developed around this city into modern Luxembourg as we know it.
The country is interlocked in Central Europe and is currently known as a
tax heaven and banking center. Today, Luxembourg is the only remaining
Grand Duchy in the world – hence the country’s full name: The
Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Historically, many communities have been ruled
by Grand Dukes (Grand Princes), e.g. the Russians, Slavs, Balts, Hungarians,
Byzantines, Catalans, Poznans and Tuscans – as well as countries like
Finland and Lithuania.
Eventually
we will post pictures and some text on our traveling in Luembourg; however
destinations outside Europe deserve our foremost interest.
Larochette (1990)
In
1990, on our way to France, we stayed a couple of days in the town of
Larachette in central Luxembourg. Larochette is placed in the canton of
Mersc, situated near the White Ernz River and has a pretty ruined castle.
