Location: Mozambique, during 2½ weeks

Our adventure began in the captivating region of Vilanculos, a charming coastal town that served as our gateway to the pristine wonders of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Nestled along the Mozambique coast, this journey would took us on an unforgettable exploration of the archipelago's islands and the stunning coastal destinations of Inhambane and Inharosso – as well as small villages and beaches in between.

Our base camp in Vilanculos down the coast near the village of Xetoquica allowed us to arrange an incredible trip to the Bazaruto Archipelago. We embarked on a speed boat journey to Bazaruto Island, the largest of the archipelago's jewels. Here, we spent a couple of days in paradise, basking in the sun, snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters, and savouring the fresh seafood. The island's sand dunes and vibrant marine life left us awe-inspired.

We then did day trips in speed boat to all other islands in the archipelago. Santa Carolina Island, often called the "Paradise Island, offered pristine beaches and coral reefs that were perfect for snorkeling, and the historical remnants of an abandoned resort added an intriguing layer to our visit. Our next adventure took us to Magarouge Island, a hidden gem in the Bazaruto Archipelago. We were treated to secluded beaches, vibrant marine life, and the opportunity to spot nesting turtles. It was a serene escape, with the soothing sounds of the ocean as our backdrop. Another trip brought us to Banguerra Island, known for its diverse marine life and exquisite coral reefs. We admired the untouched natural beauty, and enjoyed a delicious beachfront picnic. Banguerra Island's tranquil atmosphere made it a day of pure relaxation. Our final island excursion led us to the tiny but enchanting Bengué Island. This hidden treasure was the perfect conclusion to our island-hopping adventure. The secluded beaches, clear waters, and untouched landscapes made it a peaceful haven to explore and soak up the serenity.

Returning to Vilanculos, we began our coastal journey, heading south to Inhambane. This historical town welcomed us with its colonial architecture, vibrant markets, and warm local culture. We explored the historic sites, indulged in local cuisine, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere of Inhambane's streets. Our final destination was the coastal town of Inharosso, which we reached by traveling up the coast. Inharosso is known for its picturesque beaches, and we spent our last day soaking up the sun and reflecting on the incredible experiences of our trip. The charming town provided a relaxing conclusion to our Mozambique adventure.

As we departed from this part of Mozambique, we couldn't help but reflect on the natural beauty, cultural richness, and unforgettable moments we had experienced. This trip had been a true exploration of paradise and had left an indelible mark on our hearts and memories.
