Through all
50 STATES in the USA

Our travel project to travel through all 50 states in the United States of America.

We've been to the US many times!

First, as kids, we went on the east coast and on road trips in California.

Later on, during university studies, we did small trips to New York, Atlanta, Boston and other places, typically on shorter trips.

Later on we did multiple business trips, and Jakob has lived several years in metropolitan New York with his family. The idea for this project can be stated in a nutshell: "The Great American Odyssey: 50 States, 50 Adventures".

This is a mid-term project allowing for a comprehensive exploration of each state and its unique attractions.

Update 2024: We have reached 41 state visits. Remaining states are: Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi, Lousiana, Alabama, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Locations: Through all fifty states in the USA

During this epic multi-step journey across the United States we're exploring all 50 states while immersing ourselves in the natural wonders of national parks and experiencing key highlights in each state.

"The Great American Odyssey" is a travel project designed to celebrate the diversity and beauty of the United States, showcasing some of the rich tapestry of landscapes, cultures, and history that make up this incredible nation.

We focus on national park extravaganza and therefore on the key focus areas of this travel project is to visit several of the 63 national parks in the United States. From the rugged terrain of Denali National Park in Alaska to the Grand Canyon we'll seek to witness the breathtaking beauty of America's protected natural landscapes.

In each state, we will look for key attractions and landmarks. Along the way, we’ll try to engage with local communities, savor regional cuisines, and learn about the diverse cultures that shape each state. Attend festivals, visit museums, and participate in local traditions if possible. We'll prioritize thrilling activities like white-water rafting in Colorado, hiking the Appalachian Trail, exploring the  canyons of Utah and hiking in Hawaii.

Planning, budgeting, and detailed itineraries are crucial for the success of this project. We have to consider modes of transportation, accommodation options such as camping in national parks or cozy bed-and-breakfasts, and we have to account for seasonal considerations for visiting certain states and parks.

This project is not just a travel adventure but a transformative experience that will deepen our appreciation for the United States' natural beauty, history, and cultural richness.

Capturing the essence of each state is not possible, but we hope to share just a bit our our journey and inspire others to explore the beauty and diversity of the United States.

The two last states that were added to the US are frontiers, highly unique geographies, and remotely positioned away from mainland US. We have explored both in depth and have made separate pages on each  - check out our travels to the Hawaii Islands, and wild Alaska
