Through all
50 STATES in the USA

The Great American Odyssey:
Our travel project to travel through all 50 states in the United States of America.

Our journey began in childhood with visits to the East Coast and road trips through California.

Later, during our university years, we took shorter trips to places like New York, Atlanta, Boston, and several other cities.

In subsequent years, we made multiple visits for both business and personal adventures.

This is a mid-term project designed to allow for a comprehensive exploration of each US state and its unique attractions.

Update 2026:

We've now traveled through 49 states.

The journey has spanned a total of 10 months, across 43 separate trips throughout the US. No buses or trains were used. The total mileage in cars is a total of 54,000 km (34,000 miles).

The last remaining state to visit will be Michigan. An earlier attept was challenged by a sudden snow blizzard.

Locations: Through all fifty states in the USA

During this epic multi-step journey across the United States, we're exploring all 50 states while immersing ourselves in the natural wonders of national parks and experiencing key highlights in each state.

"The Great American Odyssey" is a travel project designed to celebrate the diversity and beauty of the United States, showcasing the rich tapestry of landscapes, cultures and history that make up this incredible nation. The essence of the project is simple: 50 States, 50 Adventures.

We focus heavily on America's national parks, and one of the primary goals of this journey is to visit many of the 63 national parks across the country. From the rugged wilderness of Denali National Park in Alaska to the vast grandeur of the Grand Canyon, we seek out the breathtaking beauty of America's most treasured natural landscapes.

In every state, we search for iconic attractions, hidden gems and memorable experiences. Along the way, we engage with local communities, savor regional cuisines and learn about the diverse cultures that shape each state. Whenever possible, we attend festivals, visit museums and participate in local traditions. We also prioritize thrilling adventures such as white-water rafting in Colorado, hiking the Appalachian Trail, exploring the spectacular canyons of Utah and trekking through the volcanic landscapes of Hawaii.

Planning, budgeting and detailed itineraries play an important role throughout the project. We carefully consider transportation options, accommodation choices ranging from national park campgrounds to cozy bed-and-breakfasts, and seasonal conditions that influence when and how we visit different states and parks.

This project is more than a travel adventure; it is a transformative experience that deepens our appreciation of the United States' natural beauty, history and cultural richness. Capturing the full essence of every state is impossible, but we hope to share at least a small part of our journey and inspire others to discover the extraordinary diversity and beauty of the United States for themselves.

The last two states added to the United States are frontiers with highly unique geographies and remote locations far from mainland USA. We explore both in depth and have created separate pages dedicated to each. Check our travels through the Hawaii Islands and wild Alaska
